James Barker is an inspirational young man whose strength, determination, and love for life touched everyone around him.

James lived life to the fullest. He was a keen runner and had the opportunity to travel the world doing a job he truly loved. Known for his positive spirit and energy, he brought joy to his family, friends, and everyone he met.

Four years before his passing, James began experiencing issues with his eyesight and persistent headaches. In January 2022, he was diagnosed with an inoperable diffuse midline glioma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, with a typical life expectancy of just 5 to 15 months.

Despite this diagnosis, James faced his illness with incredible courage and self-agency. While undergoing chemotherapy, he ran the London Marathon later that same year, raising over £20,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust Charity, a powerful reflection of his resilience and determination. He continued to embrace life, making the most of every moment.

In 2023, after following a holistic approach to healing, combined with his love for life, James was given the news that he was in remission.

In 2024, the cancer returned.

James passed away peacefully in 2026 at the age of 28, leaving behind a loving family and a community deeply impacted by his strength, spirit and limitless self-agency.

When James was alive he had a purpose to inspire others to heal. He continues to inspire, and his purpose lives on through the lives he touched, and ‘The James Barker Foundation’ charity.
